June 15-16 & 29, 2018 - A Temple Trip & Other Church Stuff
Today we got to go as a family to the Preston Temple. It is about a 2-hour drive from where we have been living. Hannah turned 12 in April, and this was her first chance to do baptisms for the dead. It was great to be able to go as a family. The ward was having a temple day that day, so Hannah hung out with ward members while Heather and Mark attended a session. After that, we all went and did baptisms together. It was great that Mark got to baptize Heather and Hannah, and it was a good day!
As we typically do, we used Google Maps to tell us the way to get there. It took us through many tiny, windy roads through spectacular scenery in the Peak District. If we didn't have to worry about dying because of a head-on collision, it would have been perfect!
This seemed like a good post in which to add some other church-related pictures. Below are a couple of pictures of the Derby Ward building, where we have been attending the entire time we have been in England.
Hannah has become good friends with a local, Emma Buchanan. Despite the fact that Emma is four years older than Hannah, they have hit it off since the first day they met.
We had the missionaries over for dinner, Elder Allen from California and Elder Lewis from Utah. They brought a nice message and spirit into our home.
As a fundraiser for their upcoming youth conference, the young women of the ward performed a murder mystery, "Death By Chocolate." Hannah enjoyed playing an American Boxer, who may or may not have committed a dastardly deed. (**Spoiler Alert** The murderer will be revealed at the bottom of this post.)
