March 17, 2018 - MEDU Music Group with Hannah
Mark here. I had the opportunity to take Hannah with me to the MEDU Psychè Center's music group on Saturday. There were 14 people present, 8 refugees and six white people including Hannah and me. We were all packed into a smallish room with drums, guitars, a keyboard, and an assortment of other percussion instruments. It was a bit disjointed this time, but we got to work on several songs written by a few of the refugees. The music teacher who helps to lead the group is quite good and is able to take the songs the guys sing and get everyone playing together. The songs tend to have a reggae beat or a traditional African beat. Each of them involves a bit of improv. When they get going, it is beautiful! Several of the songs are in English and talk about Africa or how God is good.
Afterwards we talked with guys for a while, and they asked to take some pictures, which I have included below. They were really interested in Hannah and asked her a lot of questions. I was really glad that she got to interact with them some and got to put a human face to what I have been doing. We'll probably go again in the future.

That is so awesome! What a great opportunity.
